Tehran, July 1, IRNA -- An informed source at the Presidential Office
here on Saturday strongly denied the report by certain sections of the
press that President Mohammad Khatami's brother Ali Khatami and some
politicians were involved in the case of distribution of videotapes
implicating some officials of the system.
Saturday edition of the English-language daily `Tehran Times'
wrote, ``It is heard that brother of President Mohammad Khatami, Ali
Khatami, has been involved in distribution of the videotapes in which
the officials of the system were insulted. It is also heard that a
number of governors have been involved with the distribution of films
The source told IRNA that such false accusations are calculated
measures adopted by a special tendency for some time to attribute some
issues to others and level insult on relatives of the president and
members of the government.
The source was not aware of the ultimate goals of those making up
and distributing such news. These acts can be a premeditated plan and
a new round of ballyhoos to exert pressures on the president.
The informed source said, ``To clarify the realities and deal with
any insult and dissemination of false reports a complaint would be
lodged with judicial authorities.''
